FEATURED CASED STUDY:

A multi-faceted digital platform for discovering, developing, and promoting emerging design talent.

As the world evolves, the way we consume and interact with fashion and the arts is destined to evolve as well. From scouting new talent to making high-fashion more accessible to the everyday consumer, DESIGNOW knew the business of fashion was changing. In its essence, DESIGNOW is an original and innovative digital platform that works to discover, develop, and promote emerging designers. DESIGNOW also doubled as a social hub providing a fashion-centric studio for young professionals to connect, share, and meet-up at monthly DESIGNOW events. 

The Alter Ego team led the charge as Fashion, Creative and Editorial Director for the DESIGNOW platform. We were also in charge of managing the DESIGNOW fashion blog and social media channels.

Seeking out the next up-and-coming designers, DESIGNOW worked with students from the major fashion schools such as Parsons, FIT, and Pratt, to name a few. The platform would give these students much-needed exposure, both through features on the site and the annual fashion show competition THE COLLECTIVE X DESIGNOW, allowing the young designers to showcase their best pieces before a jury of industry experts.

Simultaneously, Alter Ego also partnered with more established designers and influencers to develop capsule collections sold on the platform’s online shop. For these exclusive collaborations, ALTER EGO developed full branding systems that went beyond the basic design of the collections, stretching all the way to defining every aspect of their brands from the campaign images and hangtags, to the individually designed packaging.

FRANCESCA LIBERATORE X DESIGNOW, below, was a capsule collection Alter Ego created in partnership with Italian fashion designer, Francesca Liberatore, and was gifted and promoted to VIPs at her NYFW runway show.

MICHAEL COSTELLO X DESIGNOW, below, was another capsule collection developed by Alter Ego in partnership with American fashion designer, Michael Costello. The collection was featured and promoted to VIPs at his NYFW runway show and all guests received collection lookbooks and DESIGNOW gift cards.

RUTHIE DAVIS X DESIGNOW, was developed as the premiere collection by Alter Ego to promote and showcase the DESIGNOW platform. American celebrity footwear designer, Ruthie Davis, developed the six-piece collection and Alter Ego took care of the rest - from campaign images and launch videos to hangtags, packaging and even a pop-up shop in NYC’s chic gallery district.

THE FACINATOR X DESIGNOW, a bespoke, best-selling underwear & tee shirt collection, was created and developed by celebrated photographer Douglas Friedman, and the Alter Ego team. From social and blog posts, to online videos, packaging, pop-up shops, and launch events, Alter Ego created and marketed the successful capsule collection for the DESIGNOW platform.

ISABELLA HUFFINGTON X DESIGNOW, another capsule collection Alter Ego created and developed for DESIGNOW featured the intricate artwork of Isabella Huffington, American artist and daughter of media model, Arianna Huffington. The collection’s signature printed silk scarf and dress were featured at various events including: a fashion editor’s luncheon, launch and pop-up events, and at various NYC boutiques and shops – and, of course, on the DESIGNOW online shop as well!
